From Poland to Calgary: Majka Kowalczyk's Passion for Polish Dance Shines Through Mazovia Polish Song and Dance Association"

With a lifelong passion for Polish song and dance, Majka Kowalczyk is the energetic Founder, Artistic Director and Choreographer of Calgary's Mazovia Polish Song and Dance Association. Raised in a musically inclined family in Lodz, Poland, Majka began dancing at age six and went on to train extensively in ballet, jazz and folk dance. She performed internationally as a member of the prestigious Representative Folk Song & Dance Ensemble "POLTEX", winning awards at festivals from France to North Korea. Since moving to Canada in 1992, Majka has continued sharing her Polish heritage, choreographing for groups in Ontario and Alberta incuding Krakusy Polish Song and dance Association and Polanie POlish Song and Dance Association. Her outstanding choreography, authentic costumes and joyful performances have made Mazovia a vibrant part of Calgary's cultural scene since its establishment in 2015.
